Character Development

Camp Mi-Te-Na reinforces the four YMCA character values Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility

Providing a positive cabin experience is one of the many ways that Camp Mi-Te-Na reinforces the YMCA’s character values. Campers of similar age ranges reside in cabins that are equipped with bunk beds and electricity. Cabins are grouped together to create villages, with bathrooms and showering facilities located nearby. Camp counselors work with campers to create a positive and supportive cabin environment that promotes group decision making and shared activities with the goal of helping campers become mature, supportive and appreciative of one another.

Each day concludes with a camp tradition called Cabin Vespers, a time when campers
share their thoughts and experiences under the guidance of a camp counselor. This special
time gives campers an opportunity to connect on a smaller group level, and work out any
issues that may be of concern to them.
